Where do you want to live: in an ordinary residential house or in a skyscraper?

There are two main perspectives on the topic of residential architecture. On one hand, living in a low-rise building is appealing for many reasons. Firstly, it offers well-developed infrastructure around the building and the convenience of living on any floor.

On the other hand, the appeal of living in a skyscraper lies in the breathtaking views and the ability to have all necessities within the building itself.

As for me, I prefer skyscrapers because they save time. There’s no need to travel to a distant store – you can simply go downstairs to get everything you need. Additionally, due to my profession, inspiration matters more to me than personal comfort. As someone who thinks deeply about urbanism, I know skyscrapers can disrupt the contextual concept of a location.

Thus, I would live in a skyscraper only if it doesn’t «intrude" into the city but instead integrates harmoniously, adding a unique flair to the urban composition.

As for me, I would like to have an apartment in a skyscraper. I think it gives a sense of belonging on the border of two worlds - you are almost in the celestial world, but still connected with ground.

The most important advantages for me are: firstly, the ability to see beautiful views: sunrises, sunsets, fog that envelopes the city. Once I was waiting for my brother at his work in a skyscraper. It was 23st floor, the weather was rainy and oppressive, I was so board that even couldn’t look at my phone, then I started staring at the window, in front of me was another skyscraper. In a minute weather changed, and I saw a wonderful thing - in the opposite glass facade were many beautiful light reflections. I was mesmerized by these moving flashes, so the time stopped for me, I don’t know how much time I spend there staring, but I know, that definitely it was the most beautiful things that I’ve seen in a while.

Secondly, living in a metropolis is convenient, as it gives access to many shops, cafes and public places. Finally, the large number of neighbors creates a sense of security, however there is always an element of surprise - you can never know what people you can met, what conversation you can hear in an elevator.

Without a doubt, there are some disadvantages of living in a skyscraper, such as problems with evacuation and inconvenience to disabled people, sense of loneliness. However, my choice is determined, I definitely would like to have experience living at a height.

If I were to decide whether I wanted to live in a skyscraper, I would prefer to live closer to the ground, since life in a high-rise building has many disadvantages. For example, skyscrapers are difficult to make environmentally friendly, and the main disadvantage is the harm that does not cause health. Just recently I read an article about how living above the fifth floor is harmful to psychological health, and sometimes living in taller buildings is harmful to physical health. I also think that skyscrapers are more dangerous than ordinary houses in terms of fire. However, I think that skyscrapers have their advantages, for example, a beautiful view from the window. Perhaps I would like to have an apartment there, but I would not want to live there permanently.

For me, living in a skyscraper is a dream that attracts me with its unique atmosphere of freedom. At the top of such a building, I would feel as if I were on the border between earth and heaven. The breathtaking view from above allows you to forget about everyday worries and problems. This is a place where you can temporarily escape the hustle and immerse yourself in a world of tranquility and beauty.

I understand that living at such a height can be dangerous: strong winds, high probability of earthquakes and other risks. But I must say that modern engineering solves most of these problems. As for me, I'm not afraid of heights — on the contrary, they inspire me. Every time I look down, I feel a rush of adrenaline and confidence that I can overcome any obstacles.

I know that skyscrapers are not the most energy efficient structures. But now various strategies and technologies are being actively applied that minimize their impact on the environment. For example, environmentally friendly materials, conservation of water resources, renewable energy sources, and so on.

Skyscrapers is an ideal shelter for socialphobes: high up, away from the hustle and bustle of people, but with a stunning view of the world. In my opinion, a skyscraper is not just a place to live, it is a paradise for those who seek freedom and solitude.

Maybe, on the one hand, living so high makes philosophical sense - to be higher, closer to the sky and the sun, but on the other hand, internally you seem to elevate yourself above other people, literally being higher

Personally, I wouldn't want to be that high up. so far from the earth and from the "life" that is happening below.

As far as I'm concerned, it's pointless to get so far away from people, to separate yourself from reality.

It's clear that besides the fear of heights and safety, there are other reasons why I don't want to live in a skyscraper.

But first of all, this philosophy doesn’t suit me.

I would like to live in a flat in a skyscraper. The views from high above the city are breathtaking - a panoramic view of the surrounding landscape. There is something special about being part of an architectural marvel that rises above everything else. It's also no small argument that Skyscrapers are often equipped with modern amenities such as fitness rooms, swimming pools and rooftop gardens, making everyday life more convenient and luxurious. However, living in a skyscraper may not suit everyone due to potential problems such as noise from lifts or wind on high floors. Therefore, I would like to have such a flat as one of the few available so that there is always the possibility of a change of scenery.

Living in a skyscraper has always fascinated me for several reasons. Firstly, the breathtaking views from such heights are simply unparalleled. Every morning, I could wake up to a stunning panorama of the city skyline, watching the sunrise paint the buildings in vibrant colors. This unique perspective would make every day feel special and inspiring.

Moreover, skyscrapers often come with modern amenities that enhance daily living. Many of them feature gyms, swimming pools, and rooftop gardens, providing a luxurious lifestyle right at my doorstep. The convenience of having shops and restaurants nearby would save me time and effort, allowing me to enjoy life more fully.

Living in a skyscraper also means being in the heart of the city, close to cultural events, entertainment, and work opportunities. I would have easy access to theaters, museums, and cafes, enriching my social life. Additionally, the hustle and bustle of city life can be invigorating, offering endless experiences and adventures.

Another appealing aspect is the sense of community that many skyscrapers foster. With neighbors from diverse backgrounds, I would have the chance to meet interesting people and make lasting friendships. Finally, the feeling of being high above the ground provides a unique sense of tranquility and escape from the chaos below.

In conclusion, living in a skyscraper would offer me not just a home but a vibrant lifestyle filled with excitement, convenience, and breathtaking views. It’s a dream that combines comfort with the thrill of urban living.
